On July 16th Alliance Française of Nelson celebrated another fun and lively Bastille Day thanks to the gracious hospitality of Carol and Grant McAlpine. Twenty-five members attended the party bringing beautiful dishes of French food, cheese, and wine!
The ambiance, which included a French banner strung across the front of the house, French flags, pretty tablecloths, and a roaring fireplace, was cosy, friendly and warm. Entertainment of French songs was provided by Anne Spear accompanied by June Guthardt on the keyboard. A yummy dessert of freshly-made crepes was prepared and served by the grandchildren of Carol and Grant and the young members of Alliance Française with Carol supervising and co-ordinating their efforts.
A delightful and enjoyable time was had by the close-knit group (that's just how our very special Alliance is - whether it's 25 members for Bastille Day or 85 for Fête de Nöel!), and from all of us who were there, we would like to say "Merci Beaucoup!" to Carol and Grant for sharing their lovely home with us.
